2018 Summer Reading Activities for All Ages
All ages: come into the Media Center and sign up for your Summer Reading Challenge. Prize drawing on September 12th from all completed forms received. Grades K-5, come into the Media Center, beginning in July, to choose your free summer reading book.
Four programs especially for ages K-5 at the Media Center; approximately thirty minutes. We’ll remain open, afterwards, for another thirty minutes for book browsing, check out, and returns.
Wednesday, June 27th, at 1 p.m.: Tortoise Teachings with Sara Glater
A special storytime with local author and artist Sara Glater and, possibly, a four-legged guest. Sara will read her new picture book Tortoise Teachings: Lessons in the Practice of Patience. With rhyming affirmations, she describes the importance of taking one’s time. Her beautiful illustrations will be projected for all to enjoy.
Wednesday, July 11th, at 1 p.m.: The Science of Sound with the Eugene Science Center
Explore sound through engaging hands on activities. What is a sound wave? What does sound feel like? How do filmmakers create sound in a movie? Answer these and more during this rockin’ Summer Reading program.
Wednesday, July 25th, at 1 p.m.: Bring the Wild Alive by the Cascade Raptor Center
A Raptor Center education bird will visit us and be part of the program.
Wednesday, August 8th, at 1 p.m.: Dr. Delusion’s Illusions Comedy Magic and Illusion Show
Amazing! Mesmerizing! Mystifying! Dr. Delusion, a lifetime member of The International Society of Magicians, has been performing Comedy Magic Shows for over 35 years.

Teen Sci-Fi Book Club (ages 10 and up): 4-5pm, 2nd Wednesdays: JUN 13, JUL 11, AUG 8, SEP 12
Discuss Sent by Margaret Peterson Haddix. 21st Century teens and their “associates” from a distant future time travel to medieval England as they fight to rewrite history and save a King. Books provided on Kindles.
