Dear MSD Family:
As you are aware, by order of Governor Brown, all schools in Oregon have closed, at least through April 28, 2020. Also pursuant to the Governor’s Executive Order: public schools, in order to continue to receive state funding, shall provide learning supports, supplemental education and/or virtual education services to students and families.
On March 30, 2020, Marcola School District will continue serving families with virtual learning for all students in the District. You will receive additional information about how this will work from your school. I am writing to you about how we will address your child’s special education needs.
This week, you will receive a phone call or email from your child’s case manager to discuss with you, how to ensure that your child has an equal opportunity to access “virtual education” that will be provided to all students. The case manager will also discuss how the goals and accommodations identified in the child’s IEP will be addressed in the virtual setting. This could include a continuation of the supports put in place before spring break. Our goal is to meet your individual needs to the best of our ability.
As you are undoubtedly aware, the landscape is changing rapidly. We will do our best to keep in touch with you and inform you of any updates or clarification regarding the provisions of educational services and how the District will work to address your child’s special education needs.
If you need immediate assistance and wish to contact someone before receiving communication from the case manager, please contact Tami White at email@example.com
