Letter from the MSD School Board

Dear Parents and Community Members:

Our district Superintendent Bill Watkins, is retiring and will be officially leaving the district on June 30, 2020. Finding a new chief executive officer is now the board’s most important task.

Before the search begins, the board wants to explore what qualifications our staff and community believe our new Superintendent should have. We’re inviting you to help develop the list of qualifications by attending an hour-long meeting with other staff/community members at 6:30PM, Monday January 6th in the Media Center.

The meeting will be conducted by our search consultant, Sarah Herb. The discussion will be informal and designed to give all group members the opportunity to voice the qualifications they believe are essential in our new Superintendent.

Secondly, on our district website, you will find an online survey “Marcola School District Questionnaire 2019/2020.” We ask for your input by completing the survey. The purpose of this survey is to gather information about the desired qualifications for the new Superintendent and to identify strengths and areas for improvement. The information is being collected by the search and planning consultant.

A report of the overall results from the meeting and online survey will be submitted to the school board for its consideration in developing a profile for prospective candidates and use in search literature.

We hope you can take time from your busy schedule to participate in this most important task.
