After completing an extensive multi-state search, the Marcola School District Board of Directors is pleased to announce two finalists have been selected for further consideration to be the next Superintendent of Marcola with a term beginning July 1, 2020. The finalists were selected from a field of 21 applicants. The board and screening committee thoroughly reviewed the applications and the board has conducted initial interviews with several candidates. The selected finalists are:
Mr. Terry Augustadt is the Elementary Principal at the Marcola School District in Marcola, Oregon. He has 12 years of experience in education including eight years as a building administrator. He has a master’s degree in School Counseling for K-12 from Northwest Christian University. Mr. Augustadt completed his administrative licensure program at the University of Oregon.
Ms. Nadira Rizkallah is the Laurel Elementary School Principal at the Junction City School District in Junction City, Oregon. She has 15 years of experience in education including seven years in administration. Ms. Rizkallah has a master’s degree in Educational Leadership, Policy and Methodology from the University of Oregon, where she also completed her administrative licensure program.
The school board will begin background checks for the finalists over the next few weeks. The inquiries will include telephone reference checks and site visits (if school is back in session and current social distancing restrictions are lifted). After the background checks are completed, the school board will invite each finalist for a “day in the district” on Monday, May 18, 2020 (if school is back in session and social distancing restrictions are lifted). At that time school district staff and members of the community will have an opportunity to meet the candidates. If school is not back in session and/or social distancing restrictions are still in place, a virtual community forum will take place on Monday, May 18, 2020. The Marcola School District will send out additional details as they become available.
