Though often asked, the question remains relevant — “Where did the summer go????” I do hope that you all found time to enjoy family and a few outdoor adventures. For my part, our summer was packed with family visiting from Alaska, Washington, and Arkansas.\ What a pleasure it was to explore this beautiful state with my family. We simply love Oregon, not only for its natural wonders, but for the truly amazing people that we’ve had the pleasure of meeting thus far.

When we began this program in 2017, we couldn’t have predicted the overwhelming positive response we’ve experienced. Our numbers continue to grow, and so too has our staffing, program offerings, and infrastructure.

In terms of staffing we’ve added seven new Educational Facilitator (EF) team members, some of whom were hired from within the TEACH-NW family community that we serve: Cindy Morris Anderson (actually came on board late last year), Jodie Crowe, Kori Dunn, Travis Tubbs, Nicole Fuerst, and Emily Zionts will now be supporting families in their region as TEACH-NW EFs. Lisa Sequeira is a new addition as well. Lisa will serve as TEACH-NW’s Career and Academic Counselor and will primarily serve students in grades 9-12. Lisa’s mission is intended to support high school students in meeting Oregon’s graduation requirements, as well as developing and pursuing their post-secondary goals whether that be direct to the workforce, certification programs, or college. She will serve as a wonderful resource in connecting students to activities and experiences that are specific to their post-secondary aspirations.

Our intent in increasing our EF support is to reduce our student-EF ratio and, in doing so, better support your family’s educational journeys.  Continue reading…
