Rex Hoffman joins Marcola School District from Eugene 4j School District, where he served the last 3 years of his 12-year education career as a school counselor at North Eugene High school. Rex has spent the majority of his career working as a counselor at the elementary, middle and high school levels, but has also served in the roles of Assistant High School Principal, Athletic Director, and 504 Coordinator.
Rex connects with the Marcola’s Shared Belief, that effective education develops the whole person – ethically, intellectually, emotionally, socially and physically. For this reason, he has also consistently been involved with extra-curricular activities through his time in education, coaching basketball, football, track, serving as a leadership advisor, and NCAA and AVID counselor.
For the last 11 months, Rex has been deployed overseas with the US Army, serving as a Company Commander in Kosovo. He returned to Oregon and reunited with his wife of 13 years, Irie, and his 4 year old son Trey in December, and is ready to shift his focus back to the world of education.
As an educator, Rex Hoffman sees himself as systems-based, and believes in building strong supports for students, staff and the community, through maximizing resources and building collaborative relationships. He is excited to join the Marcola School District team, and to join them in doing the work to promotes academic excellence, ethical and responsible citizenship for all its students in a safe, supportive, and enriched learning environment.
