October 2023 ESPY Award Winners

Marcola School District Board Members want to Recognize our students monthly for exceptional performance at school.

ESPY: Exceptional Student Performance this Year – award is given to students doing well academically and having an exceptionally positive attitude about school. They demonstrate respect and responsibility towards staff and their peers.  They show courage by not conforming to Peer pressure and refusing to accept anyone who bullies.

The MSD School Board and the District want to recognize these students by celebrating their success at the beginning of each monthly Board Meeting.  Students receive a certificate, meet each of our Board members, and their names are announced on the district website.

October 2023  ESPY Winners are;

Bodee Osburn - 3rd grade nominated by Fallon Woodruff

“Bodee is an exemplary student. Bodee practices being safe, respectful and responsible every day. He strives to be attentive in his learning, follows directions the first time, and is always kind and patient to his peers. He is a role model for not only his class, but the whole school.

Bodee is an admirable person and an honor to work with. The three years I have gotten to know him he has consistently shown such commendable attributes and attitudes. He is committed to learning and doing his best with whatever task is asked of him. I look forward to watching him grow as a person throughout his education journey at Marcola and firmly believe that his future will be bright!”

Katie Watson - 8th grade nominated by MMS Staff

“Katie is always in class on time and gets right down to the business of learning.  She provides a great example of how a student should behave in order to get the most out of their education.

Katie has never presented a behavior problem and is even able to power through her work when other students are not following directions or are distracted by nonacademic pursuits.   Katie is always respectful and demonstrates her kindness and respect day after day.

Katie gets her homework done early.  She also participates in class and is an excellent reader.  She constantly strives to do her best and is a very hard worker.

Katie takes pride in her work and is an outstanding example of a student who leads by example.  We are very lucky to have Katie at Mohawk Middle School!”

Ethian Webb - 11th grade nominated by MHS Staff

“The high school is excited to award the ESPY this month to Ethian Webb. Ethian joined Mohawk this year as a transfer student, and has made an immediate, positive impact on our school culture.

Ethian is always on time, ready to learn, and looking for opportunities to be involved. Ethian has shown his ability to be an excellent student academically, but also socially. He has signed up for a number of opportunities at school, and quickly become a friendly peer to many current students.

Ethian goe out of his way to show respect to staff and students alike. His example, and friendly nature towards all students, has created a more welcoming environment, and led other students to get involved, and help out.

We are excited to have Ethian as a student at Mohawk, and very proud of all his efforts.”

These students are all shining examples of the MSD spirit, and we are thrilled to be able to recognize them for being exceptional students.
