November 2023 ESPY Award Winner

Marcola School District Board Members want to Recognize our students monthly for exceptional performance at school.

ESPY: Exceptional Student Performance this Year – award is given to students doing well academically and having an exceptionally positive attitude about school. They demonstrate respect and responsibility towards staff and their peers.  They show courage by not conforming to Peer pressure and refusing to accept anyone who bullies.

The MSD School Board and the District want to recognize these students by celebrating their success at the beginning of each monthly Board Meeting.  Students receive a certificate, meet each of our Board members, and their names are announced on the district website.

November 2023  ESPY Winners are;

Jackson Wallace - 2nd grade nominated by Selene Konyn

“Not enough can be said about how exceptional of a student Jackson is. He displays exemplary behavior in all aspects of school. Jackson has shown up every day with a positive attitude that spreads to his peers. His unrelenting participation in class is honorable. He does his absolute best to always further improve himself. He is unconditionally kind to all of his classmates and expects nothing in return. He has often been seen sharing pencils, picking up garbage, and pushing in chairs. Marcola Elementary is so lucky to have a friend like Jackson!”

Karli Dalton - 6th grade nominated by MMS Staff

“Karli is a stand-out in all her classes. She is academically curious and consistently seeks to learn something new from every class daily. She takes on challenging math lessons and writing assignments with a dedication to excellence despite encountering difficult new concepts.

Karli is incredibly organized and focused. She shows up to class on time and is prepared to learn. Karli's participation in classroom discussions is note-worthy. She is thoughtful and inquisitive.  She always has her classroom materials and gets everything out immediately, fully ready to take on any academic task.

Not only does Karli excel academically, but she is also a dedicated athlete. She practices for hours after school with her basketball team and contributes to team morale and cohesion.”

Whitney Workman - 11th grade nominated by MHS Staff

“Whitney continues to be a student that staff at Mohawk appreciate for her tireless work ethic, her commitment to doing what is right, and her consistent attendance. Her contributions at Mohawk make a big difference for the staff and students who work with her.

Whitney is always on time, on task, and prepared to take advantage of her learning opportunities. Whitney knows what it takes to be successful and chooses to take advantage of every option to bolster her likelihood of success, whether that is extra study time, intervention, or learning opportunities outside of the classroom.

Whitney is also a positive member of Mohawk when it comes to social impact. She would not engage in behaviors related to bullying or making students feel unwelcome.

Due to these attributes, the Mohawk Staff is continuously impressed with her growth as a student and excited about her future success. She is a great representation of Mohawk, and we continue to be proud to have her as a student.”

These students are all shining examples of the MSD spirit, and we are thrilled to be able to recognize them for being exceptional students.
