The Marcola School District is excited to announce the addition of two exceptional educators to our team for the 2025–26 school year: Holly Genthner and Maddy Rowell.
Holly Genthner will join us as the new Director of Student Services. Holly holds a Master of Education in Special Education from Pacific University in Eugene and is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Educational Leadership at George Fox University, which she expects to complete by spring 2026.
With over 15 years of experience in education, Holly brings a strong foundation in both English Language Arts and Special Education. She has served as the Special Education Department Head at Cottage Grove High School, where she was instrumental in developing systems of support that helped students thrive in high school, college, and beyond. Most recently, she has worked as an Assistant Principal, focusing on collaborative student support, instructional improvement, and strengthening relationships with families and staff.
Holly shared:
"I’m excited to be working with Marcola School District, and can’t wait to begin working with students, staff, and families. My belief is that all students are capable of learning at high levels, and that every day is a new opportunity to experience success. I find the greatest joy in helping students reach and achieve their goals—no matter how large or small."
In her free time, Holly enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband and family.
Maddy Rowell will be joining the team as our new Middle School English Language Arts (MS ELA) Teacher. Maddy graduated with a Master’s of Philosophy in Modern Literature from Cambridge University in the United Kingdom where she lived for 2 years, and recently earned her Master’s in Education at the University of Oregon after returning to her hometown of Eugene.
Maddy shared:
“I am ecstatic to be joining the team at Mohawk Middle/High! Since I was in school, I have wanted to be an English teacher. I found such inspiration from the amazing teachers that have shaped me into who I am today, especially in my love of literature. I am over the moon to have been given the opportunity to share my love of literature with brilliant young minds.”
When she’s not teaching, Maddy enjoys reading (she read 100 books last year!), hiking, baking, crafting, and traveling.
Please join us in warmly welcoming Holly Genthner and Maddy Rowell to the Marcola School District. We are excited for the experience, passion, and energy they bring to our schools and look forward to the impact they will make in the year ahead.
