Marcola School District is excited to announce two new staff appointments that reflect our commitment to hands-on learning, sustainable practices, and our guiding MAXIM: WE Grow.

First, we are proud to introduce a new position within the district: Forestry and Ground Horticultural Technician. This role has been created to support our growing outdoor learning environments, maintain our forested and landscaped areas, and strengthen connections between our land and our learning. We are thrilled to share that Brian Silva will be stepping into this role as he returns from an extended personal leave. Brian brings with him years of experience, deep knowledge of our campus, and a strong passion for land stewardship and student engagement.

In this new role, Brian will collaborate with OSU Extension, the Oregon Department of Education (ODE), and our CTE programs to maintain and grow educational spaces that connect students to agriculture, forestry, and environmental science. His return marks an exciting step forward in our efforts to make every inch of our campus a space for learning.

We are equally excited to announce that Tami Bonney will be stepping into the role of Farm to School / School Garden Coordinator. Tami has long been a dedicated presence in our school gardens and has a clear vision for connecting students to the source of their food, supporting local agriculture, and growing our Farm to School programming. In this position, Tami will oversee garden-based education, coordinate seasonal planting and harvest efforts, and work with educators to bring garden experiences into the classroom.

Together, Brian and Tami will help expand the district’s efforts to create vibrant, living laboratories where students can explore real-world concepts in sustainability, ecology, and food systems.

Please join us in welcoming Brian back and congratulating Tami on her new role. We look forward to all we will grow—together.
