OCT 2025 ESPY

Marcola School District Board Members would like to recognize our students monthly for their exceptional performance at school.

ESPY: Exceptional Student Performance this Year – award is given to students doing well academically and having an exceptionally positive attitude about school. They demonstrate respect and responsibility towards staff and their peers.  They show courage by not conforming to Peer pressure and refusing to accept anyone who bullies.

The MSD School Board and the District want to recognize these students by celebrating their success at the beginning of each monthly Board Meeting.  Students receive a certificate, meet each of our Board members, and their names are announced on the district website.

October 2025 ESPY Winners are;

Bodee Osburn - 5th grade, nominated by Alan Shafer

Bodee comes to school each day eager and ready to learn. He consistently shows strong determination to master new concepts and never hesitates when faced with challenges. Bodee is an active participant in both small group and whole-class activities, always bringing a positive attitude that lifts those around him.

As a true Model Mustang, he sets a high standard for his peers and serves as an inspiration to younger students. Bodee is a valued member of our classroom community whose contributions help create an inclusive and vibrant learning environment.

Trey Reynoso - 8th grade, nominated by MMS Staff

Trey arrives on time for class and is always prepared to learn. He regularly participates in class and is an active listener and learner. Trey leads by example, consistently demonstrating respectful and responsible behavior. He usually turns his work in before it is due, is very attentive in class, and has an excellent work ethic.

I have had the pleasure of working with Trey for three years now, both as a student and as an athlete. During these three years, Trey has shown remarkable progress in academics, athletics, and leadership among his peers. He faces challenges with the confidence and resolve of someone well beyond his years, and he handles his mistakes with poise and accountability.

I am extremely proud of the progress Trey has made during his time here at Mohawk Middle School, and I look forward to seeing all of the great things he will accomplish in the future. —Jason Milstead

Bonnie McCoy - 9th grade, nominated by MHS Staff

Bonnie is an example of what we hope all MHS students aspire to be. She is kind and respectful to her peers, her teachers, and all of our support staff.  She demonstrates that daily by showing up on time, listening intently, and giving her best effort to the tasks she is presented with.

Bonnie has demonstrated the ability to work independently, reflecting on her own work to seek areas of improvement. She is also a team partner, able to listen to the thoughts and ideas of others before interjecting her own.

Bonnie’s contributions to the school's culture also extend beyond the academic classroom. She has been observed doing small things, such as reaching out to a classmate who seems down or lonely, picking up a dropped item to return it to a peer, or returning all the calculators in math class that are left on tables.

We are proud of Bonnie’s efforts this year and proud to have her as a student at Mohawk High School. Stan Mercer

These students are all shining examples of the MSD spirit, and we are thrilled to be able to recognize them for being exceptional students.
