DEC ESPY

Marcola School District Board Members want to recognize our students monthly for exceptional performance at school.

ESPY: Exceptional Student Performance this Year – award is given to students doing well academically and having an exceptionally positive attitude about school. They demonstrate respect and responsibility towards staff and their peers.  They show courage by not conforming to Peer pressure and refusing to accept anyone who bullies.

The MSD School Board and the District want to recognize these students by celebrating their success at the beginning of each monthly Board Meeting.  Students receive a certificate, meet each of our Board members, and their names are announced on the district website.

December 2025 ESPY Winners are;

Corabelle Davis - 2nd grade, nominated by Selene Konyn

Corabelle is a phenomenal example of a safe, respectful, and responsible Mustang. She comes to school every day with a contagious positive energy. Corabelle has a passion for learning. She is curious and will often ask inquisitive questions to further expand her knowledge. She loves to participate and share her learning.

Corabelle is a role model for all. She follows all classroom and school expectations and does so with a smile on her face. She is such a caring friend who will go out of her way to check on others and give compliments to those who would benefit greatly from them.

Corabelle excels in everything she does by working hard while still being humble. You are going to go so far Corabelle!

Melladee Mason - 8th grade, nominated by MMS Staff

Melladee consistently demonstrates readiness and a strong commitment to excellence in all of her classes. She arrives prepared to learn, contributes thoughtfully to class discussions, and models respectful behavior, making her a positive influence on her peers.

She exhibits strong leadership qualities both in and out of the classroom by showing responsibility, respect, and a genuine willingness to help others. Melladee consistently meets expectations and displays exemplary behavior, earning the trust of both her teachers and classmates. Her dependability contributes significantly to a positive and productive classroom environment.

Academically, Melladee produces thorough and insightful work on a regular basis. She puts genuine effort into her assignments, remains focused, and maintains a positive attitude while actively engaging in class discussions.

Melladee has exhibited these behaviors all year. The month of December has been no exception! In a time of year when it can be difficult to stay focused, Melladee does!

Michael Jarvis - 9th grade, nominated by MHS Staff

Michael has made significant progress in improving his focus and classroom behavior and is now setting a positive example for his peers. He consistently asks thoughtful questions and takes thorough, high-quality notes. Michael has not received a single referral or disciplinary action this year, a substantial improvement from last year. This change reflects meaningful growth in self-regulation and accountability.

Michael also demonstrates strong self-advocacy skills. He actively checks for understanding, ensures his notes are complete, and follows up after each slideshow to confirm when materials will be uploaded to Schoology so that he does not miss any content. These habits are indicative of long-term success in school and beyond.

Additionally, Michael has shown increased maturity and leadership in the classroom. On multiple occasions this month, he has proactively positioned himself away from peers who may distract him and has respectfully asked classmates who are off-task or speaking loudly to remain quiet so he can focus. This level of confidence and respect for the learning environment reflects commendable personal growth. - Jason Milstead

These students are all shining examples of the MSD spirit, and we are thrilled to be able to recognize them for being exceptional students.
