ESPY

Marcola School District Board Members want to recognize our students monthly for exceptional performance at school.

ESPY: Exceptional Student Performance this Year – award is given to students doing well academically and having an exceptionally positive attitude about school. They demonstrate respect and responsibility towards staff and their peers.  They show courage by not conforming to Peer pressure and refusing to accept anyone who bullies.

The MSD School Board and the District want to recognize these students by celebrating their success at the beginning of each monthly Board Meeting.  Students receive a certificate, meet each of our Board members, and their names are announced on the district website.

March 2026 Elementary ESPY Winner

Bodie Yokum - Ist grade, nominated by Fallon Woodruff

Bodie is an outstanding first grader who demonstrates safe, respectful, and responsible behavior everyday. He is exceptionally kind and caring to both his peers and adults. I can always rely on Bodie to make good choices, even when it is hard. He is an excellent student who puts his best effort into everything he does.

I look forward to seeing how Bodie will grow during his years in the Marcola School District. His sense of leadership, kindness, and honesty will take him far in life beyond school. It is an honor to know him and be a part of his educational journey.

April 2026 Elementary ESPY Winner

Jason Beemer - 5th grade, nominated by Alan Shafer

"Since the start of the year, Jason has come to school each day with enthusiasm and a genuine eagerness to learn. He consistently shows strong determination in mastering new concepts and approaches challenges with persistence and confidence. Jason actively participates in both small-group and whole-class activities, bringing positive energy and encouragement to those around him. As a Model Mustang, he sets an excellent example for his peers and serves as a role model for younger students. His cheerful attitude and kind spirit help create a welcoming, inclusive, and positive classroom community."

Brandilyn Floeck - 8th grade, nominated by MMS Staff

Brandilyn has definitely been a stand out student this year. She always comes to class prepared, with a positive attitude and ready to learn.

Middle school can be a difficult place to engage with focused learning, with students sometimes off-task or unkind. Brandilyn always brings the opposite when she is in class. She is cheerful, helpful, kind to peers and stays on task. We've really benefited from Brandilyn's positivity this year.

Brandilyn has really strived to do her best this year. She stays organized, focused and gets her classwork and homework in on time.

In Honors Math, Brandilyn not only helps by passing out supplies each day, she is the first to get started on her math during independent work time- writing down math steps and discussing math with a partner without getting distracted. This will serve her well in high school. She has become an excellent student. - Carissa Childs

Emma Rockwell - 11th grade, nominated by MHS Staff

Emma Rockwell has demonstrated exceptional drive and initiative in my Life 101 class through the completion of her passion project. She identified a real need within our school community and developed a care kit for students who may not have reliable access to basic hygiene supplies. Emma not only designed and built a prototype but also secured funding to provide over 40 kits to students in the Mohawk School District.

Emma accomplished all of this while maintaining a high GPA and challenging herself with college-level coursework, including Anatomy and Physiology, Medical Terminology, and Writing and Literature. In addition, she serves as a Publicist on the Leadership team and is a dedicated varsity softball player, contributing as both a center fielder and a left fielder.

We are proud to recognize Emma as an exemplary student at Mohawk High School and celebrate her well-deserved Espy Award.
