October 2022 ESPY Award Winners

Marcola School District honored the October ESPY Award winners at the October School Board Meeting.

ESPY: Exceptional Student Performance this Year – award is given to students who are doing well academically and have an exceptionally positive attitude about school. They demonstrate respect and responsibility towards staff and their peers.  They show courage by not conforming to Peer pressure and refuse to accept anyone who bullies.

The MSD School Board and the District want to recognize these students by celebrating their success at the beginning of each Board Meeting each month.  Students receive a certificate, meet each of our Board members, and their names are announced on the district website.

October 2022  ESPY Winners are;

Tinslie Croce - 5th grade

"Tinslie shows up to class everyday with a smile on her face ready to learn. She is always one of the first to have her materials ready and prepared and she is always ready to participate in class discussions. Tinslie brings a positive and kind behavior to the classroom everyday. She is always willing to help out her classmates in positive ways. Tinslie always strives to be her best in class and demonstrates a growth mindset. She works hard to understand the material and asks questions when she is unsure. Tinslie has earned her model mustang badge by demonstrating she is a responsible member of our school community. Everyday she strives to be her best and brings a positive attitude into the classroom. "

Weston Payne - 6th grade

"Weston is always respectful and makes sure to stay on-task during class. Weston is always on time, completes his bellringer answers, and is ready to learn from the moment he steps into my classroom. Weston leads by example and improves our school culture every day. Other students benefit just by being around Weston and witnessing what it means to be a truly exceptional student. Weston gets his work turned in on time and always has insightful answers when called upon in class. Weston's effort is consistently excellent and I am excited to see him learn and grow as a student leader in our middle school.”

 James Davidson - 10th grade

“James is always in class, on time, and prepared to learn. James makes the most of his opportunities at Mohawk by demonstrating respect for his teachers and peers, and using his time responsibly. James sets a great example for his peers during school, and while participating in extracurricular activities. James is positive, encouraging of others, and focused on reaching his own potential. James is a great student when it comes to managing multiple aspects of his high school experience. James prioritizes his learning by being in class on time and completing all of his work, his athletics by consistently attending and pushing himself, and socially by demonstrating kindness to those around him. James is a well rounded student in that he excels in all areas we measure. We are proud to have students like James representing Mohawk High School.”

Last school year, February 2022 ESPY Winner for Marcola Elementary School
