Marcola School District 79J has been selected to participate in a year-long professional learning opportunity called the Farm to School Institute. As a part of this, a team from the Marcola School District community (teaching and food and nutrition staff, administrators, community members) will be attending a 3-day intensive in July. At this intensive, the team will develop a farm to school action plan for Marcola School District 79J. We want YOUR input to help inform the development of this action plan.
We will follow the "3 C's" (Community, Classroom, Cafeteria) farm to school model for farm to school planning, which you will see reflected in our questions below. We welcome input from all Marcola School District staff, families, and community members. The theater class will be performing their spring play, Alice's Adventures with Poorly-Cooked Cafeteria Seafood by Don Zolidis, on Tuesday, June 11 at 6:30 in the Media Center. Join our heroine, Alice, as she navigates a reality and a wonderland full of strange creatures--and her annoying little brother--and finds at the end of her journey that there's nothing wrong with being average. Admission is free.

Mohawk Athletic Department is seeking members to form a Mohawk High School Hall of Fame committee. The committee will meet annually to nominate and induct former Mohawk HS athletes, teams, coaches and administrators that meet the committee's criteria. If you are a coach, volunteer, booster club member, or Mohawk HS alumni and are interested in serving on this committee, please contact Athletic Director James Tharp: jtharp@marcola.k12.or.us . Additionally, if you know someone that you think would be interested in serving on this committee (particularly those members of the community that coached or attended Mohawk in 1976 or before), please share this with them.
The first meeting for this committee will be on Tuesday, June 11th at 5pm in the HS Commons. Our goal will be to form a committee, elect officers and begin the process of nominating and inducting the first class of Mohawk High School Hall of Fame members before the start of the fall season 2024.

Recently, they sent us this cool pic to let us know they enjoyed their visit, think of our awesome little community often, and....GO MUSTANGS!

Congratulations to Junior Ewan O'Dea! He competed this weekend at the OSAA 1A Track & Field State Championships at Historic Hayward Field in Eugene. He finished 5th in the state at the 1A level in 300M Hurdles. Nice job Ewan!
