
State Testing – May 19–22
Students in grades 6, 7, 8, and 11 will participate in Smarter Balanced (SBAC) assessments for reading and math.
Grades 8 and 11 will also take science assessments during this time.
These assessments, along with classroom performance, teacher insights, and report card grades, provide a well-rounded picture of each student’s progress and growth.
If you have questions please contact our office. You can find the opt out form for ELA and Math on our district website under Menu, Student Services, Quick Links- 24-25 State Testing Opt-out Form. If you choose to fill it out, please return it to our school on or before May 15th. Thank you!

Attention, graduating seniors with plans to continue your education after high school:
Marcola Mother’s Club offers 3 scholarships for students continuing their education, regardless of the level of institution (i.e. 2 year college, 4 year university, trade school):
1. Mother's Club Scholarship: $500
2. Esther Cowling Scholarship Mauney Scholarship: $1500 could be divided among three people,
3. And, new for 2025 – the Bertha Maples Memorial Scholarship: one scholarship for $750.
More Information:
Scholarship applications are due May 16th.
You must complete a separate application for each scholarship!
You will learn about the award at graduation.
Please submit the following to Ms. Libby in the College & Career Office:
1. A letter explaining your need for the scholarship, plans for the future, and some background information, which can include family history and demographics, community service, and information about your attendance record.
2. Include transcript for GPA/merit based information


On Thursday, May 8th, Connected Lane County is hosting a Hiring Fair at Spark at Booth-Kelly in Springfield to connect your students to local job openings in high-wage, high-demand career fields. All companies that apply for a booth have entry-level positions open or projected to be open in June. This event is open to current seniors and all youth 16-24, though job opportunities may be limited for participants under 18.
Date: Thursday, May 8, 2025
Location: Spark at Booth-Kelly, 303 S. 5th St, Springfield, OR 97477
Time: 8:30am departure from Mohawk, 9-10:30 event. Return at 11am.
Seniors: we have 10 spots.

Hello, Mohawk families of Sophomores and Juniors! Reaching out with information on the upcoming Pre-ACT and ACT testing day, 4-9-25. ACT testing will occur 8 AM - noon, and Pre-ACT testing is scheduled to begin just after lunch that same afternoon, running from noon-4. We will be distributing informational packets to students right after we return from Spring Break. Please be on the lookout for those.
