Good Morning Mohawk Families, It's time to register for 2024 Spring Sports! Mohawk Athletics will be offering HS Softball, HS Golf, MS and HS Track & Field, and possibly baseball depending on numbers. PLEASE BE REGISTERED BY THE END OF THIS WEEK. All athletes must have a current sports physical on file to start practice and participate. Mohawk Athletics will be contacting parents of registered athletes that need an updated physical. *MS and HS Track and Field parent meeting is this Thursday 2/15 at 5:30pm in the HS Commons.* High school Spring Sports practices start Monday 2/26. A couple of highlights this week are that we have senior recognition night tonight for HS basketball and MWL Basketball Districts on Saturday which will feature our girls' team! Please arrive early for our games tonight to help honor our seniors. We also have a track and field meeting on Thursday... the time is TBD so stay on the lookout for that. We have something happening each day this week! We start off this week hosting Crow for MS Basketball and it's 8th grade recognition night! This will happen in-between the boys and girls games. We hope you'll join us to honor our 8th graders! Other than that, check the schedule for our other events. Including a MS B-team Tournament at Mapleton on Friday. Hello, Mohawk Community business owners! We're planning our annual College and Career Week February 26-29!we're looking for local organizations who would like to participate in a tabling event / mini-job fair for our high school students. The tabling event is Thursday, Feb. 29th, from 2-4pm at the High School. If you're interested in having a table and talking about the employment process at your business (you don't have to have current openings), please contact Ms. Libby Cox, College and Career Readiness Coordinator.

Join the Family Playgroup on Thursdays from 2-3 PM in the Media Center for storytime, crafts, playtime, and age-appropriate STEM activities. Free for ages birth-5. Please check in at the Elementary Office.

We have a lot going on this week! Our middle school and high school teams have multiple games. On Saturday, only our boys varsity plays Siletz and the game is at noon. Stay tuned for updates on schedules and for updates on Senior Night and 8th Grade recognition night! #GOMO

Hello Mohawk Basketball Families, Due to the recent weather and game reschedules our Basketball Senior Night will be moved to MONDAY FEBRUARY 12th -Announcing girls at 5:10pm (4 Senior Girls) -Announcing boys at 6:40pm (2 Senior Boys) Game schedule on 2/12 vs Eddyville: 3:45pm JV Girls -2 quarters 4:30pm JV Boys-2 quarters 5:30pm V Girls (Senior recognition 5:10pm) 7pm V Boys (Senior recognition 6:40pm) **Yes, girls play first, as that was the way it was scheduled previously. Hope to see everyone there to cheer on our MUSTANGS!!!

Our High School Softball team will be meeting Monday, 1/29 at 6:15 in the HS Commons. Interested athletes should attend! #GOMO

The FFA Degree Ceremony is officially rescheduled for February 4th at the high school commons at 6 pm. During this meeting, we will have an in-depth conversation about State Convention and more about fair.

Marcola School District has scheduled its annual testing dates for the 2023-2024 school year. Important Testing Dates to Remember: ACT - Mohawk and TEACH-NW Juniors (11th Graders): March 12 - More details to come! PACT Mohawk and TEACH-NW Sophomores (10th Graders): March 12 - More details to come! State Testing - Marcola Elementary: All students in grades 3-5. Mohawk Middle/High School: All students in grades 6, 7, 8 and 11. Testing begins week of May 13. State testing opt-out parent request form link can be found at the district website, and is due back before testing begins, by no later than May 11. Please reach out to Student Services Director, Linda Brecht-Kwirant, or your student's school with any questions. Thank you!

Exciting news for our students with an interest in music and composition, and The Arts! Thanks to a grant from Eugene Symphony Association, Mohawk HS will be hosting a visiting artist on Wednesday, January 31. Composer, Michael Djupstrom, will perform in the gym during an assembly, from 12:30-1:20, and will be joined by Eugene Symphony Master Concert violinist, Searmi Park, with whom he will play a duet. All middle and high school students, and our Junior Mustang 5th graders are invited to attend! Following the assembly, students may ask questions, and are also invited to attend a Hult Center performance on the evening of Thursday, February 1, at 7:30 PM. As a part of this grant, Eugene Symphony Association has also generously donated a limited number of FREE tickets to students for this evening concert event. We thank them for their investment in our students' educational experiences, and for being such active members of our greater community and region! We appreciate you!

Marcola Community, Marcola School District will remain closed for school, and school related activities, through Friday, as we work to regain power in the buildings. We are hopeful for a return to normal next week as the impacts of the ice storm are managed.

Marcola Community, Due to the power outages related to the inclement weather, school has been canceled for Wednesday, January 17th. We will continue to monitor this situation, in hopes that power returns to the Marcola area, and everyone remains safe, and plan for a return to school. The elementary school remains open as a warming center in coordination with Mohawk Valley Fire Department. Thank you to all the volunteers that have made this a resource for our community.

Marcola Community, Mohawk Valley Fire Department has partnered with Marcola School District to provide a warming center for the Marcola community, located at the Marcola Elementary School gym. Please let friends and neighbors know that they can come down to find some warmth. We will continue to work together to try to secure additional resources at this location in order to support our community as this storm continues.

All Marcola School activities have been cancelled for tomorrow, Tuesday the 16th. We are aware that families are currently dealing with icy and obstructed roads, power and internet outages, and the extreme cold weather. We will continue to monitor the situation, and communicate with updates as available. Stay Safe!

Our High School Basketball games at Siletz have been cancelled today due to rough weather forecasted all day. These games will be rescheduled. #GOMO

Due to possible inclement weather, our game times have changed for Saturday's games @ Siletz Valley. Girls varsity will play at 1pm and boys varsity will play at 2:30pm. There are NO JV games. We will keep you updated on any other schedule changes. #GOMO
